"Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better then you found it."
Marian Wright Edelman
(American activist for the right of children)
This sentiment has been the driving force behind the establishment of ‘Altius’. An all consuming desire to give back to society in some sustainable form what society has given to me. Right from the very beginning, I have seen education as a means to an end, the end being the grooming and molding of youth into responsible citizens of the world. Till the high school stage we nurture our children as young saplings, protecting them from all external elements.
But the moment they step into the world of higher education, the world as they know it undergoes a drastic transformation.
This is when we need to ensure they are equipped to meet those challenges that life is going to throw at them, be able compete and make a place for themselves, progress from dependants to independent, productive and constructive members of society with a firm sense of responsibility.
To strengthen their resolve to succeed against all odds yet make them flexible enough to adapt to all situations with highly evolved values. It is also vital that we guide them to attain professional excellence with moral grounding, to have pride in their achievements tempered with humility and a deep rooted sense of social responsibility and commitment.
The sense of fulfillment in a job well done will come when the students that exit these portals have realized their full potential and served their purpose in life.
